What you’ll do

• Design and deliver fraud prevention capabilities within payment processing solutions.
• Enable transaction suspension, investigation, and release workflows while ensuring appropriate funds reservation and control mechanisms.
• Develop and maintain complex payment orchestration processes involving fraud services, transaction lifecycle management, and foreign exchange handling.
• Collaborate with fraud, payments, and operations stakeholders to implement scalable, resilient, and compliant payment journeys.
• Apply industry best practices for fraud controls, operational resilience, and 24/7 payment processing environments.
• Design, develop, and maintain Java based a real time processing component
• Implement and maintain message driven integrations (EMS, MQ, Kafka, APIs)
• Contribute to non functional requirements: performance, resilience, scalability, security
• Participate in Scrum ceremonies (standups, refinements, reviews, retrospectives)
• Demo delivered functionality to stakeholders when required

What you need to be successful

• 5+ years of experience of java development (Java 21 and Java 25)
• Strong understanding of Spring framework – experience working with Spring Boot and Spring Batch, concurrent/thread-safe programming
• Experienced working with distributed systems works
• Understanding of clustering technologies like Cassandra
• Understanding/work exposure to Kafka
• Experience working on CI/CD tools - any would you do; we are going to use AzDO.
• Experience with containers (Docker, docker-compose, Kubernetes)
• Some experience with XML, XSL, XSD
• Experience working with TDD and BDD (Cucumber and Gerkin)
• Good communication skills with an appetite to receive feedback whether it is positive or used for improvements.
• Experience in SCRUM with a strong preference for the agile way of working.
• Security by design

Nice to have

• Exposure to observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, logging/alerting)
• Understanding of messaging platforms (i.e., Kafka, EMS, MaaS, ActiveMQ and/or IBM MQ)
• Exposure to performance testing and fixing performance related issues
• Experience working on banking or payment-related projects is considered a strong advantage
